<p class="run-inhead"><img src="../images/ht_01.gif" alt="How To icon" height="2" width="2" /><br> Trim the beginning or end of a clip</p><p class="paragraph">When you trim frames from a clip, you simply change the clip's start or end point. You can always regain the trimmed frames by dragging the trimmed edge of the clip.</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="Emphasis">Note:</span><span class="Emphasis"> The mini frames in the Timeline window are for general reference only. Watch the Monitor window to locate a precise frame in the video.</span></p><p class="paragraph"><span class="bold">1.</span> To zoom in on the clip in the Timeline window, move the current-time indicator <img src="../images/TimeBarRulerTimeThumb_N.gif" alt="current-time indicator " height="15" width="13" /> over the edge you want to trim; then click the Zoom In icon <img src="../images/ZoomIn.gif" alt="Zoom In button " height="14" width="15" />. </p><p class="paragraph"><span class="bold">2.</span> In the Timeline window, click the Selection tool <img src="../images/P_Select_Lg_N.gif" alt="Selection tool " height="17" width="12" />, and then place the pointer over the end of the clip that you want to trim.</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="bold">3.</span> When the pointer changes to the Trim icon <img src="../images/TLRippleOut.gif" alt="Trim Out icon " height="18" width="17" /> and the red bracket frames the clip you want to trim, drag the end of the clip until you see the desired frame displayed in the Monitor window. </p><p class="paragraph"><span class="Emphasis">Note:</span><span class="Emphasis"> If the clip is adjacent to another clip, the Monitor window displays both clips as you trim, so you can see the frame that comes immediately before or after the clip you are trimming.</span></p><p class="paragraph"><span class="bold">4.</span> To preview your change, drag the current-time indicator over the clip, and watch the frames in the Monitor window.</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="bold">Related Help Topics</span></p><p class="paragraph"><a target="help" href="../1_6_5_1.html">Trimming frames from either end of a clip in the Timeline window</a></p><p class="paragraph"><a target="help" href="../1_6_5_2.html">Trimming frames from either end of a clip in the Monitor window</a></p>
